Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Wounds 4 People Shot in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Sacramento authorities are looking into a violent incident that took place on April 18 2026 at the Howe Community Park area at the moment officers were dissolving an unauthorized event of an estimated several hundred individuals.

Prior to the Shooting

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies first arrived at the park on Howe Avenue at about half past six in the evening after learning of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Not long after, additional information came in regarding an alleged brawl happening at the location.

A law enforcement helicopter was sent to survey the area but reported no active disturbance. Despite this, it became clear that an enormous crowd had congregated at Howe Park without permission.

When the Shots Rang Out

Responding units began the process of clearing the park by setting up around the park's perimeter and making announcements directing the hundreds present to vacate the area. About 15 minutes were allotted for attendees to disperse.

It was during this dispersal that upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the night. The rapid succession of shots sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Law enforcement wasted no time in identifying shooting victims.

Those Who Were Hit

Altogether, four shooting victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The four individuals — consisting of one woman and three men each reported to be in their mid to late twenties — were rushed to area medical facilities. Emergency physicians indicated that two victims were in serious condition, one sustained moderate wounds, and one sustained minor gunshot wounds. As of last report, all four victims survived and were stable.

Sacramento fire crews provided support and aided in treating the injured at the park.

Physical Evidence

Most of the gunfire was confirmed to have occurred on the Cottage Way corridor alongside the local Home unauthorized gathering shooting Sacramento Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators found additional spent rounds on the Cottage Way roadway. Projectile impacts were noted in the wrought iron perimeter fencing bordering the Home Depot store. The physical evidence showed that a shooter had been shooting in a southerly direction from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot. The store itself was put under lockdown for a period of time. Crime scene technicians and detectives stayed at the location throughout the night.

Detainees in Solano County

Information relayed through law enforcement radio communications established that a Kia vehicle was intercepted in the Solano County area. Four occupants were detained. Sacramento law enforcement were en route to collect those detained to collect the individuals for investigation. Surveillance footage confirmed that there were two gunmen.
